If you are ever in the position of rescuing somebody from drowning, you’ll probably want to know some basic first aid. Therefore it’s a great idea to brush up on your first aid knowledge, with a particular focus on CPR.
Now that you’ve ensured that your family and friends are safe, turn your attention towards proper pool maintenance. As the temperature increases, pool owners across Australia may find their pool suddenly taken hostage by a red, black, or green algal bloom, that can be quite damaging to your pool.
Chlorine is the best defence against pesky algae. Therefore, every pool owner needs to be monitoring and controlling their pools pH levels on a regular basis to ensure a balance of chlorine. Keeping this balance is essential, as a reading that is too high or too low can cause problems to your pool and its equipment, including your solar pool heating.
Finally, another issue that all pool owners must be aware for during these warmer months is phosphate levels in the water. Phosphates primarily enter the pool through bird or bat droppings, clothing detergents, and water washed off roofing. Phosphates allow algae to bloom by feeding them and allowing them to spread throughout your pool’s water quicker. Taking a sample of your pool water down to your local pool shop will allow you to detect, eliminate and manage your pools phosphate levels.
